Yes, It’s that time to continue the world famous Discover & Download article. This time to kick things off we got DJ FADE. Making moves in the Jersey Club scene, making waves into the trap, and moombahton scene. Working with Brick Bandits familia and even receiving support on radio stations across the Atlantic. All while maintaining focus on College. Expect many great things from this rising Producer and DJ.

Danceism: What’s your name and where are you from?

DJ FADE: My name is Brandon, I’m from East Orange, New Jersey.

Danceism: Favorite Color, Food, Cartoon?

DJ FADE: Favorite color is silver, food is watermelon, white peaches, and cartoon The Boondocks.

Danceism: Describe your sound in 3 words?

DJ FADE: In three words to describe my sound: Unique, Futuristic, Different.

Danceism: How did you get into DJ’ing and Producing?

DJ FADE: I winded up gettin into DJ’ing by my mother. Bringing me to a skating ring for the very first time, She knew the DJ personally and brought me up there to the DJ booth. He let me scratch the vinyl, I saw the reaction it caused to the crowd, and it was a positive response. There was so much energy in the crowd that you would of thought it was new years eve. I always loved that crowd reaction.

DJ FADE: I got into producing by my friend DJ Kiff, who is in brick bandits. He introduced me to this program called fruity loops studio, and he told me to teach myself so I could develop my own sound. Every since then I worked on it and under a year of production I got my song played on hot97 and power 105.1

Danceism: So how did you get into the Jersey Club sound?

DJ FADE: I Got into the Jersey Club sound by attending my first party. At the end of my eight grade year my friend threw a graduation party. This was my first party I ever attended and the DJ played house and club music, which I was not too familiar with at the time but it grew on me so fast. Every since that day I have been researching where this music came from and who was making it. Little did I know 95% of the producers lived in My area. Im very close to most of the Brick Bandit members and My first influences were DJ Tameil, and DJ Tim Dolla. I always used to Go to their myspace pages every day just to see what they would put out next. One producer that stood out a lot to me was DJ Runnah, because of his chopping skills and creativity.

Danceism: What’s your inspiration to make music?

DJ FADE: My inspiration to make music is to just express myself musically. That is the main purpose . As I continued to get better, more and more fans approach me every day showing respect and that pushes me to continue to make good music.

Danceism: You recently went to Mad Decent Block Party. How did it go? And any crazy stories you can share?

DJ FADE: Yes, I went to the MDBB. It was the greatest experience of my life. I went crowd surfing for the first time and what made that day so unique is being able to be exposed to different type of music im not used too. They also shouted me out twice that day. I know DJ Tim Dolla Personally and he showed love. I love Mosh pits now lol. Im really crazy when it comes to parties I love to enjoy myself. One crazy story that happened that night is i lost my phone while crowd surfing and someone gave it to me. Now for anyone who has been to a MDBB knows that the chance of me getting my phone back is 1 to 10000.

Danceism: You’re a DJ, Producer, college student, and close to your parents. How do you maintain and manage your time with all these different aspects of your life?

DJ FADE: I maintain the current stage of my life by planning. Every night before i go to bed, I plan what time im going to wake up, what time im going to read more about music, and what time I need to study. Its all about time management and thats what college has taught me especially while having a job on campus.

Danceism: What music Projects are you working on now?

DJ FADE: I have a lot of music projects in store for the public. One of the hit bangers that I look forward to releasing on itunes the most is “Throw your hands up (Fuck love) Ft. Hot Rod.” This will be my first single on itunes and I have nothing but positive thoughts about it. All of my music have been given to the public free for promotional purposes, and now that some of my music is overseas there is a higher chance more people will be purchasing my music online. I have so many others, but they will remain confidential because I dont want to release too much info out yet.

Danceism: Whom do you want to work with in the future?

DJ FADE: I want to work with Flosstradamus, Diplo, Luminox, And Dj SLiink. I have worked with Dj SLiink before but that was when I just started producing and we never released it. Now that im more musically inclined and developed a style for myself I am ready to work with the big dogs in this music game.

Danceism: What do you carry in your DJ Bag?

DJ FADE: I carry My Laptop , Headphones, mic, and passport when I am DJ’n At clubs. When I am booked for any other special type of event, and I must bring my own equipment. I Carry my two 275 watt power amp speakers, two stantons, dxm 06 mixer and my very own custom made light show that repeats “DJ Fade the future” on it in different colors.

Danceism: Any upcoming Gigs?

DJ FADE: So Far I do not have any upcoming gigs, but Im close with a lot of promoters in my area. More Jobs come through around when the school year is on.

Danceism: What artists you been into that we should check out?

DJ FADE: You should check out Luminox, Dj K shiz who is apart of the whole jersey club movement, and Hot rod if you havent heard of them. Search them under people on soundcloud and they will appear.

Danceism: Anything you want to tell your fans out there?

DJ FADE: I want to tell my fans thank you for all your support and following me since day one. Even if you just started to listen to my music, keep checking for updates because I plan to hit every genre to please everyones ears!

As Always, Here’s the music! Don’t forget to support the artists and purchase their music when available.

DANCEISM: What’s your name and where are you from?

DJ Sabo: Will Sabatini aka SABO from the East Coast now living on the West.

DANCEISM: What is your favorite food, Color, and Cartoon?

DJ Sabo: Favorite food is Pintxos, color brown, and cartoon The Simpsons

DANCEISM: Describe your music in 3 words?

DJ Sabo: Ritmo Con Sabor

DANCEISM: Your a heavy hitter in the moombahton movement. How did you get into the genre? or was it an easy pickup with all the spanish influenced music you play?

DJ Sabo: I got into it 2 years ago after Shawn Reynaldo (XLR8R, Bersa Discos) came back from SXSW and told me about it. I didn’t know Dave Nada yet but knew his music from working at Turntable Lab and selling his records on Dubsided and T & A records. Dave made a mix for XLR8R shortly after that was the first Moombahton mix ever published as far as i know. It was so sick! And he actually put 3 of my tracks on there. 2 from my Bersa #6 release, and an old reggaeton Culture Club mash up i had put out on Sol*Selectas. I’m thinking man I gotta holler at this dude! So I did and we became instant homies. He sent me all the tunes he had, which at that time was only 20 or so. I asked him if I could remix one of them “La Gata” so he sent me a wav file and I made “La Gata Plastica” http://soundcloud.com/djsabo/la-gata-plastica-sabos-edit

From then on i was just obsessed, and started making a ton of edits too. I was already playing and making latin mid tempo music, but somehow the BIG room sound of Moombahton just made sense and the huge build ups and electronic sounds really made it fun to make and play. Dave invited me to come DJ his birthday party and then I heard it “in the club” and was just floored. Two months later we bought Munchi a plane ticket from Rotterdam and started our party Moombahton Massive. It’s still going strong and I feel so stoked to be a part of it!

DANCEISM: As the genre continues to grow and expand into different niches. Where do you see it expanding next? Do you feel the genre has the longevity to continue to grow into the mainstream

DJ Sabo: Yeah i definitely think so. There are already so many Big name people already fucking with Moombahton. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some major Pop singers on Moombahton beats this year. I think the harder bleepy core sound is gonna continue to get really huge, but I also hope the deeper more latin side of Moombahton contunes to flourish and expand the boundaries of the genre.

DJ Sabo: I'd say in another year we'll be ready to have our own top 10 Chart

DANCEISM: Do you think Moombahton should have it’s own category on Beatport?

DJ Sabo: I think the genre still needs to mature a bit before that happens. Right now its sick because Moombahton EPs are charting in the top 10 of Electro, Nu-Disco, and even Pop categories. This is really gonna help expose the sound to new people and get people hyped on it who may have just written it off otherwise. I’d say in another year we’ll be ready to have our own top 10 Chart but right now I kinda like the crossover and “undergrounded-ness” of it still…Kids today whine cause they can’t find the songs on there, but i’m coming from the days where you searched city to city in dirty record bins for hours trying to find that one track, so an extra google search to find an .mp3 ain’t gonna hurt, haha!

DANCEISM: Every time i see you at an event, your always with ladies. Do you feel you choice of music has helped bring more lovely ladies around you?

DJ Sabo: Aww man thats too funny. I don’t know- I love ladies, and love when ladies are dancing, so when I play i try to get the ladies moving first, and the fellas will always follow. So many cats out there are playing for the “bros” now but I’m definitely all about moving the chicas. Girls like to sing a long and like vocals, so I try to add that into my sets, and still keep it bassy and tough for the dudes.

DANCEISM: You came out with a moombahton remix of “Mi Burrito Sabanero.” Were you just in the Christmas spirit and decided to pump out that remix?

DJ Sabo: yeah man that is a classic Venezuelan christmas tune that i’m pretty sure every latino in the world knows and grew up on. I wanted to make something special for the holidays and also kind of remind people that the roots of Moombahton is truly in latino culture.

DANCEISM: You have been featured in many Moombah compilations with all different styles. So whats next in your musical endeavors?

DJ Sabo: I finished up a bunch of remixes for people last year and now I’m focused on my own productions, and releasing lots of great music on Sol*Selectas this year. I’m starting a vinyl only series of Moombahton compilations called “Moombah Fiesta” which will focus on the more afro latin brazilian side of Moombahton. I’m gonna release a really dope 4 track Ep by Euro ill Bass from Berlin, and I have a few collaboration projects in the works in the afro latin house side of things too. I’m starting an all Moombahton monthly radio show on iheartradio.com this year. I think Nadastrom and I are gonna collaborate on a full EP for their new label which should launch this year as well.

DANCEISM: Could you explain what MoombahDeep is?

DJ Sabo: The deep stuff is the more subtle, not so in your face, Moombahton. No car alarms or wobbles, just patience. Its the dubbier late night vibes you play at 6am after everyone else has been banging it out all night. Its that sexy smooth panty dropper music…

DANCEISM: You recently attended an event called “Ceviche Project” An event serving Ceviche, Wine, and playing cumbia music. Are these type of events inspirational to your music endeavors, or you just love seafood?

DJ Sabo: I’m inspired by everything around me, but especially a good dinner and drinks with friends while listening to some classic music. I love all kinds of food, but the freshness of raw ceviche is hard to beat. I dj in Playa del Carmen a few times a year just to go eat the ceviche there, its incredible!

DANCEISM: You were managing the Turntable Lab store. Do you still run the store? Has recent touring has put a hold on you working there?

DJ Sabo: No I quit working at the store when I left NY and moved to LA. I was there almost 7 years and it was amazing. Those guys are really the only ones in Manhattan still holding it down, and selling new music on vinyl. The amount of incredible DJs and musicians I met while working there was phenomenal, and it was awesome to see new kids come in a get so hyped on DJing and the culture.

DANCEISM: Since you worked at Turntable Lab. What are five things you suggest a DJ must own?

DJ Sabo: Good taste, Humility, Confidence but not Arrogance, Knowledge of the Roots of the music you’re playing, and Respect for the DJs who came before you and paved the way for all of us.

DANCEISM: What do you carry in your DJ Bag?

DJ Sabo: All of the above, condoms, earplugs, Advil, a small flash light, and a USB key with all my tracks on it to give away and trade with other DJs

DANCEISM: Any upcoming Gigs?

DJ Sabo: Cielo March 2nd NYC, Reno Massive March 3rd, DC Massive at U-Hall’s 2 year Anniversary March 14th, SXSW Massive March 15th, and HARD / Mad Decent Moombahton Massive on March21st at WMC. After that Nadastrom and I are planning a US Massive Tour in May, and then i’m off to Europe for June to tour over there.

DANCEISM: What artists should we watch out for and are gonna do it big in 2012? Nadastrom, Heartbreak, JWLS, Munchi, Pickster and Melo, Cousin Cole, Theory and J-Boogie, Jon Kwest, Billy the Gent, Starks, Bro Safari, Sazon Booya, the list goes on and on. So many good people making great music these days!

DANCEISM: Anything you want to tell your fans out there?

DJ Sabo: Thank you for all the support! Keep dancing, eat well, have fun, and live life to the fullest!!!

Bringing some amazing moombah edits and originals that are getting much support from many artists all over the globe. I had the chance to discuss the many elements that make them who they are as Producers and AckeeJuice Rockers. Exclusive Danceism mixtape for our readers as well: ACKEEJUICE ROCKERS X DANCEISM MIXTAPE

Danceism: Favorite Color, Food, Cartoon?

Ali Selecta: All colours/Fajitas de Pollo/The Jungle book
King P: Blue/Tortellini with speck and soya cream
………………………………………………………………………………………

Danceism: Describe your sound in 3 words?

Ali Selecta: Global Bass/Tropical fruits/Big asses. Oops, these are 6 words! King P: Big tings agwan
………………………………………………………………………………………

Danceism: How did Ackeejuice Rockers start?

Ali Selecta: We met a long time ago and since the first time we exchange opinions on music. After a few time we thought to put together our different musical worlds in a unique project and, one day, while listening to a mix of Justice with Sizzla we look to each other and say: hell this is our sound!!!

………………………………………………………………………………………

Danceism: You been pumping out some awesome Moombahton remix’s and edits. What was your first impression of Moombahton? What motivated AckeeJuice Rockers to get involved in Moombahton?

King P: Since the beginning this genre striked us because it has been the most efficient way to transmit all our background. Moombah’s bpm are perfect to make asses shake and even if you add aggressive sinths, it never loses that sexy flow. Moombahton, Moombahcore and Moombahsoul are perfect channels to express in electro what we have inside. As far as we know, we were the first to test a production Moombahgospel with “Wade in the water”, also this makes you understand how much versatile is for us this genre.

………………………………………………………………………………………

Danceism: Moombahton is growing rapidly and is leaking into the mainstream with the help of many talented producers. Where do you see it going next?

Ali Selecta: Oh…we love Moombah but we don’t believe that this trend will have a long and lucky life. In fact we’re not only Moombah producers. Probably it will happen the same that happened to Dubstep, one day a Skrillex will come and will bring to everybody’s ears this sound. I see the scene of our moms listening to Moombahcore while cleaning up!!!

King P: That day Ackeejuice Rockers will not be afraid because we know how to stay far away from pop music. Anyway right now for sure Moombah is the most fresh sound, it’s a rhythm that let you bounce like hip hop crank six years ago. Ground around it is still very hot.

………………………………………………………………………………………

Danceism: The style of music coming from Ackeejuice Rockers is very unique and contains so many different sounds. What are some of the musical influences in your music?

Ali Selecta: Omg, all kind of music you can think about passed on our record players. Yes, we can listen to everything mate and we hate who hide behind a unique colour.

………………………………………………………………………………………

Danceism: How has the reception been regarding Moombahton in Italy and Europe? Do you feel it may become a staple club genre in Europe?

King P: Italy is discovering this genre but at the moment it does not exist a concrete Moombah scene. In Florence something serious is moving up but in our area it happens to see MoomNbahton on the flyers written with the “N”, with the “N” you know what I mean?

………………………………………………………………………………………

Danceism: I noticed you guys have rocked Animal Hats. Have you worn them while spinning?

Ali Selecta: We love and respect animals bro..better, we feel as animals. We’re like fucking native transforming in the beast we need. For example, in this moment we got out from our studio working on a new track and while answering to your questions we’re feeling like bad crocodiles.

………………………………………………………………………………………

Danceism: What artists do you look up to?

King P: There are few artists that we consider bonafide, We are listening something from Dubbel Dutch, Bert On Beats, Roulet and Nazareth, Big Dope P and in the moombah game David Heartbreak and Javier Estrada. But there are other producers who drop the bomb today.

………………………………………………………………………………………

Danceism: Whom do you want to work with in the future?

Ali Selecta: For sure Diplo and Switch-Major Lazer are our best! Actually we want to work with anybody want to give us good vibrations. We think that many people have something to give us and we have a lot to give to them, too.

………………………………………………………………………………………

Danceism: What Do you carry in your DJ Bag?

King P: Mmm, times where bags were full of black vinyls to spin are finished! If you look into our bags now, headphones apart, you can find only cold things: cds, the Serato box, macbook and our guns, Lol!

………………………………………………………………………………………

Danceism: Anything you want to tell fans out there?

Ackeejuice Rockers: thanks to show us luv in the networks, facebook and soundcloud first. Stay in tune for next bangarang from us and check our nu EP out now…Fresh!

If you can’t tell, we really love Planet Rock over here. Now it’s time to make you a Believer. We had the chance to interview Planet Rock and ask them a few intimate questions. Here’s how it went:

Danceism: Who is in Planet Rock?
PR: Dom Corleone, ASAA, and Ben Oprstu

Danceism: Favorite Color, Food, Cartoon?

Dom: Blue, Raumen, Akira
Ben: Green, Peking Duck, Avatar: Last Airbender best cartoon EVAR
Asaa: Purple, legit ramen, king of the hill

Danceism: How did you guys decide to team up?
PR: We’ve all been doing the solo thing for some time now but it’s very time consuming doing all the processes of production, promotion, etc especially with a full-time job and other side-projects. It’s so much smoother when you have someone who’s got your back in other areas you aren’t as good at. We made LAZRBEAM as our first collab and it went really smoothly, sounded sick, so I told Dom I wanted to take my music to the next level with him and he was down with the idea of a collaborative project. Soon after we spoke Arthur joined, he’s got skills neither of us have.

Danceism: You just released your new EP “LAZRBEAM” It’s an awesome tune, how was the producing process between you guys?
PR: Really easy, we sat down, Ben said he had an idea that sounded like this “dooo doo duh duh duh dooo doo dooooo” and Dom was like, “Okay” and made the sound in a second. Dom’s been pioneering 808 bass and i really love that so we took that and made the beat half-time inspired in part by Canblaster’s beat “turn it up”. We really dug it, sent it back n forth over a few days and then Arthur came through on the master, which made it HUGE. Asaa and Dom would joke about how it seemed that the quintessential afrojack-style, lazer sounding sawtooth lead was in every single track, so we kind of wanted to poke fun at that. We’ve heard our track dropped at Avalon, Control and in the small clubs everytime, the bass hits that shit gets crazy as Dom says “thats when the panties drop” best visualization of the bass objective.

Danceism: If you could collaborate with your three favorite Producers, who would they be and why?

Dom: DJ Premier – Most influencial hip hop producer and dj to come to my attention in life, the fact that he makes the things he hears in his head inspires me to reach that point.
SebastiAn – He’s the hidden but not so hidden gem of ed banger, his gritty style never disappoints and he produces the most interesting french house.
Redlight – Crossing over from drum and bass as DJ Clipz, redlight perfectly blends all my favorite styles of EDM; uk funky, dubstep, hip hop, drum and bass, and even a little bit of that latin flavor

Ben: Crizzly – Love his hiphop crunkstep his style is sick, and his beats are wild, i think it’d be a whole lotta fun.
gLadiator – Killin it in the moombahton zone, love their style its straight up our alley and they’re good friends, maybe they’re reading!
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – Every song this guy makes is amazing, well written, and makes me happy. He has a Jay-Z remix that no one can get a hold of, but is incredibly sick. Would love to see if we could get that one crackin.
Asaa: quincy jones – for being one of if not the best to ever do it
dj premier – cause he was my biggest inspiration to create shit when I was a kid, and im gonna say it–
skrillex – Hate his creative if you gotta hate, but that guys got technical skills all day, I could definitely learn a few things from him

Danceism: Anything you want to tell fans out there?
PR: Thanks to everyone out there who’s supporting and spreading the news. We promise to keep delivering a fresh new sound, shout out to Veronica for being an avid supporter all the way out in Canada!!! <3

Recently, I have become a fan of Freeze-Tag. Making me open my ears to this relaxing trip hop-Electro fusion. With his two latest releases out now, they give you a relaxing and calm groove. You can choose to dance with your lover or Drink a beer and mellow out. Just the right blend of music. So let’s meet the man behind the music.

Danceism: What’s your name and where are you from?

Freeze-Tag: Freeze-Tag of course, from Cleveland, OH

Danceism: Favorite Color, Food, Cartoon?

Freeze-Tag: My favorite color would have to be Red at this point. It used to be Green though…I still like Green. My favorite food is probably Chewy Lemonheads, l like candy a lot. I watch a lot of cartoons, probably more than any 23 year old should watch. These new cartoons called Adventure Time and the Normal Show are pretty funny, my favorite was Hey Arnold when i was a kid.

Danceism: Describe your sound in 3 words?

Freeze-Tag: Futuristic Soul Music

Danceism: What have you been working on?

Freeze-Tag: Currently putting the finishing touches on my debut record “RECESS”, and im about 3 or 4 songs into my next two records. I produce for other people too soo im always working on sounds. Im also working on concepts for the Tidal Wave and PW for President videos… Always something to work on..

Danceism: What’s your inspiration to make music?

Freeze-Tag: I try to do everything in the spirit of Jazz.

Danceism: Whom do you want to work with in the future?

Freeze-Tag: It would be crazy to work with Bjork or Santigold on a track, or Thom Yorke…..or Rick Ross. Im really feeling Flying Lotus and Toro Y Moi right now, so i def would love a collab there. Im gunna put out a RECESS remix record of all the tracks, so a lot of collabs commin up on that with some of my friends, Brad, MJ Parlay etc..

Check out these tunes:
