2deep being 2Shy

This duo of booty music has been on the rise. They can quite possibly be the next Nadastrom, but we must wait and see. They have been pumping out amazing remixes and originals featuring their varied influences and have been showcasing this talent with their monthly residency “Muevelo” in Los Angeles. Holding it down for the Moombahton Movement. Here is our interview with the Duo and our Exclusive Mixtape for Danceism.

DANCEISM: What’s your guy’s name and where are you from?

2DeepOur names are Luis and Ultra. Luis is from the Bronx, New York and Ultra was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. WESTCOAST!!

DANCEISM: What are your favorite food, Color, and Cartoon?

Ultra: Damn, I LOVE FOOD, so this is hard to answer, but I think I have to say SHRIMP. My Brotha bubba feels me! My favorite color would probably be black, but I love black, white, grey and red. Those are my favorite COLORS and as far as cartoon goes, it probably would have to be old school ninja turtles. I had a bunch of the cartoon series on VHS back in the day

Luis: Favorite food would have to be a plate from Ecuador called Encebollado de pescado Favorite color black favorite Cartoon would have to be Street Sharks or Rocket power. Ha-ha

DANCEISM: Describe your music in 3 words?

Luis: Tropical Wild Style

Ultra: SUPER HYPHY SHIT

DANCEISM: You guys have been producing a lot of Moombahton Lately. How did you first hear about Moombahton?

Luis: I first Heard about Moombahton on Youtube about two years ago I was looking for Dutch House tracks with Reggaeton at 128bpm and then Sandungueo came out and I fell in love with the sound and later on I found out about Dave Nada and how the genre started

Ultra: I first heard it at a skipping party while I was visiting a couple pals out in the east ha-ha nah, I first heard Moombahton at a mad decent party back in like 2009, when we had booked DJ Sega and took him to some Mad Decent party in L.A. Shit was weird, because of the Cumbia shakers and like hip hop feel to it, but all the white girls were feeling it and so was I and then I was like SWAG and then yeah that’s pretty much the first time I heard moombahton.

DANCEISM: Do you think Moombahton should have it’s own category on Beatport?

Luis: DUH! But yeah man of course it should why not?

Ultra: Yeah, I mean it will have it’s own category eventually, but it’ll take time before that happens. In the meantime you just got to be a real DJ and DIG for the real dope shit. Nah mean?

DANCEISM: I hear a lot of buzz about Muevelo and getting support from some labels. What’s Muevelo?

Luis: Muevelo is just a party ultra and I started. I actually posted something about how there is no 18+ moombahton parties and he hit me up saying he wants to throw his own party and shit so we just teamed up and now we’re on our 8th muevelo with J-trick this month.

Ultra: Here’s a little write up I did about Muevelo: (don’t laugh) Muevelo is a Los Angeles based moombahton party that first started in September of 2011. The initial concept of Muevelo was to offer a moombahton party to young adults under the age of 21. At that time, all the tropical bass parties were 21+ and all the moombahton artists that were playing parties in L.A. were only doing events that were 21+. Aside from bringing extraordinary talent every month, Muevelo has collaborated with companies like Mad Decent, The Wood Class, Strobe Knights, DJ Factory and Fureek. Muevelo’s future plans include working with more companies, host more talent, host stages at raves, massive’s, and eventually turn the Monthly event into a weekly party.

DANCEISM: There is a noticeable Hip Hop influence in your Moombahton productions. So I have to ask, Tupac or Biggie?

Luis: Biggie

Ultra: FUCK YOU LUIS. WESTCOAST TILL I DIE. TUPAC. But yeah Biggie was the shit man!! RIP

DANCEISM: Could you explain what Trapmore is?

Luis: Just crazy Baltimore bass mixed with some trap shit!

Ultra: Yeah Luis is always making new genres up and shit, like WAR HOUSE. Ha-ha but yeah I trapmore/traphouse is just both those genres swagged out together.

DANCEISM: What inspires you guys to produce music?

Luis: Being able to travel and play gigs out of state just because people like the music we make.

Ultra: Yeah pretty much banging out swagged out edits at parties and watching people enjoy them sandungueo!!

DANCEISM: What are your next musical endeavors?

Luis:..

Ultra: what’s an endeavor? Ha-ha

DANCEISM: Tell us about your favorite gig?

Luis: Hmm. That’s a hard one, I think it would have to be when Ultra got drunk at a event we did with Mad Decent we got to play around 11:30 and we had the party jumping

Ultra: Yeah that would have to be my favorite. Got to pop bottles with Paul Devro and David Heartbreak. Shit got hella ratchet man! I think I even snorted cat tranquilizer in the bathroom with some girl hahahaha. YOLO
