It’s Silent Down Here, Hey I Wanna Get Loud Again!

Its Silent Down Here, Hey I Wanna Get Loud Again!

Can I just be blunt for a second?  If you havent checked out Danceism’s weekly VERSUS party, you need to get off your ass and get on board.  I know, I know Thursday night is when all the NBC comedies are, trust me, I usually find myself glued to the couch watching brilliant single camera comedies, but C’MON, MAN. You’re YOUNG! Look at you! Look at that body! DAMN! The kids were in rare form last night, and to say things got a little wild is a vast understatement.   Sometimes it’s hard for us to get out a rage on a Thursday (Casual Fridays at work, while casual… are still a full work day for some of us… woof), but pick a week, take a disco nap, and go. I promise you, you wont regret it.  Raging from 930-2 was exactly what my soul needed, and although now I am contemplating all the ungodly things I would do for some In N Out, I’m content.  Okay that’s all I needed to say… Onwards to the music.

JUSTICE “ON’N'ON” RUINED BY RICK RUBIN by edbangerrecords

Oh my GAWD, my homie Whoopi sent this to me and my entire day turned into rainbows and butterflies. Rick Rubin turned this track into a good vibes remix that’ll make you get funky. Love that the vocals stay in the foreground for this.  Crank this one up, we all need more Justice in our lives!!!

Desert Island (YACHT remix) by Architecture In Helsinki

I am SHAKING. Architecture in Helsinki is one of my favorite finds of 2011, and Yacht, well I’ve been obsessed with Yacht for YEARS.  When I saw that the later did a remix of an AMAZING AiH song, I just HAD to check it out. Oh. OH. OH!!! From a carefree island song, Yacht brings some deep synth action to the track, taking it from flirty and fun to straight sexual.  They keep the vocals, just making them a bit glitchy/screwy.  Still fun. Still love.

Blackstreet – No Diggity (The KiD Remix) by The KiD

Talk about making kids go DUMB. A refreshing take on a classic jam–this house remix turns tore the roof of Central last night!! I LOVE how it goes back to the original track for a few bars so you can go back to jamming out how you did back in the day, just to speed back up to get you all riled up again! Hope you’ve got some nice speakers because this is one big room track you don’t want to miss any parts of!

Zedd – Slam the Door (gLAdiator Remix) by gLAdiator

Oooh the dubby goodness… you feel it? I know I dont throw enough dubstep at you kids, and you’re craving those dirty wobbles…hmm that sounds slutty.  But y’all ARE slutty so, eat it. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying listening to gLAdiator’s progress, and this remix is no exception.  Dirty. Dub. I don’t think I need to say much else to ya buncha bassheads.

gLAdiator – Brand New (Planet Rock Remix) FREE EP w/ REMIXES OUT NOW!!! **Free Download** by PlanetRockLA

PlanetRock, the things you do to me… This electro remix got me dancing quick!  Honestly, the drop made me wish that I was marching in the streets with some crazy Carnival-type parade following behind me… I mean, that’s what I always wish, but the track varies and at this moment in time THIS is the track I want to be playing as I flood the streets with party vibes and slutty girls. Seriously. Stand the fuck up when you listen to this track, because you’re going to be marching around like a fool in no time.

Devil’s Work (Alex Metric Remix) by miikesnow

Oh my GOD. OH MY GOD. YOU GUYS. New Miike Snow. New Miike Snow is just so fucking…I gotta take my pants off. I cant control myself.  I was psyched when Devil’s Work was previewed last month, and now that I’ve heard Paddling Out and Black Tin Box, and have an even better feel for the new album… I am BEYOND excited. Check out this remix of Devil’s Work by Alex Metric–It. Will. Make. You. Scream. Brilliant and dancey as all hell, this track has got the perfect mix of Break Beats and FUNK to get you movin. Check out the rest of the new original Miike Snow tracks here!!

BRAND NEW: BORGORE – FLEX (DUBSTEP MIX) – MUSIC VIDEO

Screen shot 2012 01 27 at 11.48.40 AM 640x354 BRAND NEW: BORGORE FLEX (DUBSTEP MIX) MUSIC VIDEO
If you are unfamiliar with Borgore, the Israeli rapper/dubstepper, it’s time to get familiar. This kid is so prolific, he named an entire subgenre of dubstep after himself, and now the bass music scene has “gorestep” – heavy, dark, graphic, like weird grimy basement porn, Godzilla getting fucked by Megatron while Darth Vader fluffs King Kong in the background.
And all around, it’s lightly snowing crystals. Reminds me of the ice levels in Donkey Kong Country (yea, you know what I’m talking about).
This track is beautiful. It’s heavy. It’s got a music video featuring a shaggin’ wagon and a couple of stripper/hooker/porn stars.

Simon Cowell and DJ IDOL

16157034 440x261 Simon Cowell and DJ IDOL

Simon Cowell just announced his plans for a DJ version of American Idol. “DJ’s are the new rock stars, it feels like the right time to make this show,” Cowell said in a statement announcing the news. Fortunately, he will not be judging the show. Cowell has teamed up with Sony Pictures Television, Overbrook Entertainment, (Will and Jada Smiths company) and SYCO entertainment. They are currently shopping around for Networks to broadcast the show to U.K. and U.S. markets.

I honestly want to know who the judges are gonna be. Can any DJ sign up?

What do you think the criteria will be?

Skrillex LA Takeover Tour recap at Dim Mak Studios Tuesday

Here I am standing back stage, covered in sweat and bumping into every DJ who’s relevant. It’s a pleaseant 98 degrees and sweat looks like it’s accumulating on the ceiling. Alvin Risk just got off stage after jumping around to some bangers. Koan Sound went before Alvin, and both acts did exceptionally well. Alvin Risk held down his own as a high energy legendary DJ, from beginning to end he was jumping and flipping out “I give it ten minutes” said one DJ, I was wrong to agree with him. The real treat was listening to Koan Sound, who’s off-kilter dubstep was surprisingly fresh with its high energy pop sounds twisted by a Brainfeeder swing. It was delicious to the ears. (Koan said after they don’t normally play experimental stuff, but given the knowledgeable and open-minded crowd they went for something extra special, Thanks guys!)

The real party started when Skrillex stepped on stage. With a capacity of 300 and clearly fitting more than that, the energy was both exciting and familiar; these people had seen Skrillex many times before but this was an exclusive event where they could reach out and touch him not a distanced festival. Other than the meat of his set which was fittingly his music, Skrillex really showed his diversity as he rolled through some disco, 90s hip hop and even his favorite techno tune which “he always plays” said one member, sounded like new ZZT to my ears, not sure. Favorite highlights were when he called Ellie Goulding on stage for their new collaboration on the Bangerang EP, and when he dropped a beat yelling “FUCK SOPA”, the crowd roared and everyone had a good time. Skrillex continues his tour today in LA with the most ridiculous lineup of the week Skrillex + 12th Planet + Caspa + Diplo at the Echoplex which can fit about 800 people, it’ll be sold out and line around the corner so get there at 8P. EEEK!

Are you going to see Skrillex this week? Which ones? Tell us in the comments section!

0SM – The Biggest Lizard

osm 640x358 0SM The Biggest Lizard

Our new flagship music endeavor, 0SM, is at it again. The trio of producers are on a sonic mission, striving to push the boundaries of EDM by fusing classical & flamenco guitar, micro-edited and heavily layered production, and an undeniable melodic sensibility.

Their newest release, The Biggest Lizard, functions as a perfect example of this new genre that we like to call PWNSTEP. Our good buddy, and personal VJ for Skrillex, Flying Lotus, and many others, STRANGELOOP, put together a short teaser video to get you stoked on the track. It’s available for download on 0SM’s soundcloud.

Also make sure to check out their other singles Without and Emerald Hillz, which caused some commotion on the web after we placed it in our Minecon recap video, leading to a frenzy over whether or not Deadmau5 produced the track.
